Benefits of Building a New Home
It’s a new year! For many, that means a fresh start and a new beginning. For you, that may mean building a new home. If you’re looking for a custom home that’s high quality, yet affordable to construct, G.P Kon Custom Builders may be the right home builder for you.
We’ve been in business for over 25 years, so we’ve seen firsthand the impact building a new home can have for you and your family. Here are our top reasons building a new home might be the right New Year’s resolution for you.
- Your Home Reflects You
When building a new home, you can literally start from the ground up. The beautiful thing about constructing your own custom-built home is that your options are virtually limitless, and each one reflects you. We are a small third generation builder and we keep our numbers small, so we can focus on you! We can help our clients design their home, or you can bring your plans to us. Energy Efficient homes are the way to go, and we can certify your home as an Energy Star home!
- You Have a Clean Slate
The new year is all about fresh starts, so why not start with a clean slate when it comes to your home? When you purchase a home from someone else, you don’t necessarily know what you’re getting. With previous owners, there’s no guarantee when it comes to the quality of the home’s upkeep. While you can have a home inspector take a look around, not every issue is immediately apparent. On the other hand, one of the benefits of building a new home is that everything is brand new.
When you build a new home with a trusted contractor, you know what you’re getting. You won’t have to worry about repairs right away or expensive upgrades. At GP Kon, we build each home as if it were our own. Since we keep the numbers low, only 5-10 homes a year, you can be assured that the owner/contractor of GP Kon is the one supervising your job and is there every day! All of our contractors our insured, and we have worked with most of same ones for over 20 years.
- Modern Convenience
New homes are often built with modern finishes and amenities. That includes energy efficient materials and appliances. You may be thinking that it’s going to cost way more money to heat and cool a home with a greater square footage area. Again, on the surface that may be true. But with the energy efficient features of newly constructed homes, you’ll be paying virtually the same amount as it would cost to heat and cool a smaller home with outdated features.
Let’s take a look. According to the Energy Information Association, new homes are about 30% larger than their older counterparts but still consume about the same amount of energy. In fact, homes constructed in the year 2000 and later consume only about 2% more energy than pre-2000 homes despite their considerably larger size. That means you’ll still be getting more bang for your buck even after your home is built. Thus, a certified Energy Star Home does not cost much more to build versus a home that is not certified.
Ready to begin planning the construction of your dream home? We’d be happy to help you get started. Whether you’ve been planning a custom built home for some time or never before considered it, GP Kon Custom Builders would like to show you what your future can hold. Here’s to the new year and your new home!

March 10, 2020, 8:11 pm REPLYI love the idea of being able to pick out every detail in your home and where it’s located if you have it custom built. I have always wanted to live in my dream house but I can never find one that fits all of the qualifications. I’ll keep what you said in mind and look into maybe having my dream house built if I can never find an existing house that matches it.

My friend is interested in owning a home this year, but he’s not sure if he’ll purchase or build a home from scratch. I’ll share this with him so he’d understand the benefits of having a custom home. I’ll suggest that he look for professional residential builders as well.

July 23, 2020, 5:46 pm REPLYI agree that having all the modern conveniences installed in your house would be nice. It would be cool to have things like smart thermostats and doorbells installed from the start. I should consider building my next house so I could hopefully have all of those things built into the house as it’s built.

November 6, 2020, 7:43 pm REPLYIt’s really interesting to learn that most new homes are made to be much bigger than older homes, but they are much more efficient. My sister is trying to build a new home for her family this next year. She needs to find a local contractor that can help get the home to her exact specializations.
